Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope's Angelus: There should be no homeless families

2013-12-23

The cold weather didn't stop thousands of families from coming out to St. Peter's Square to celebrate the Angelus with Pope Francis.

Mixed in with the crowds, there was a huge banner in Italian, that read: "The poor cannot wait.” After reading this, the Pope improvised a few words, praying for homeless families and calling on society to take action and help.

POPE FRANCIS

"Family and home go together. As a family, it's very difficult to move forward, without a home. During this Christmas Season, I call on everyone: individuals, social entities and authorities, to do everything they can to assure that every family has a place to live.”

Overlooking the Vatican's Christmas tree, he said even the Holy Family was in need of a home, when Jesus was born in a barn. Reflecting on Sunday's Gospel, the Pope also talked about St. Joseph, by explaining why it's key to take time to reflect and listen to God.

POPE FRANCIS
"St. Joseph was a man who always listened to the voice of God. He was deeply sensitive to His secret will - a man attentive to the messages that came from the heart and from above.”

Combined with Mary's courage and the faith of Joseph, who left doubt and human pride aside, the Pope said, all Christians must walk along together towards Bethlehem.
