Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. The racing world has ground to a complete halt following the accident of retired Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher suffered while skiing in the French Alps.

The seven-time world champion had the chance to meet Pope John Paul II in January 2005.

During his meeting with the Ferrari team, John Paul II described the value of sports. The Italian megabrand gave the Pope a miniature model of the racecar Schumacher was driving when he won his seventh world championship.
