Pope Francis issued a message the victims and families of a deadly warehouse fire in his hometown of Buenos Aires. At least nine rescue workers died Wednesday when the damaged building collapsed, in the neighborhood of Barracas. Seven others were injured.
The Pope said he was "deeply saddened” upon learning about the fire, and said he wanted to share his "closeness.” Particularly, he prayed for the "eternal rest” of the victims, and shared "words of hope” for the families and survivors.
He closed his message invoking the "loving protection” of Our Lady of Lujan, and imparted his blessing to all those affected.
