Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

(-VIDEO ONLY-) Pope Francis welcomed the bishops from the Episcopal Conference of Timor Leste, a small, Portuguese-speaking country in Southeast Asia.

Pope Francis met with Msgr. Basílio Nascimento, bishop of Baucau, Msgr. Alberto Ricarda da Silva, bishop of Díli, Msgr. Norberto do Amaral, bishop of Maliana.

The Pope asked them not to be afraid to proclaim the Gospel of mercy. He also told the bishops they must take three main positions: at the front to lead the way, in the middle to keep unity, and in the back to ensure no one is left behind.

The former Portuguese colony has about population of 1.1 million, of which about 97 percent are baptized Catholic.
