Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope gives tips on how to be a good Confessor

2014-03-28

What does it take to be a good Confessor? Pope Francis gave a few tips to priests who took part in a conference on the Sacrament of Confession. The Pope said that it's not about being a judge, but about mercy.

POPE FRANCIS
"A confessor shouldn't act like a judge or act like an average friend. Instead, one needs to act with God's charity. With the love of a father who finds his lost son and seeks him out. With the love of a pastor who goes out to find his lost sheep.”

When it comes to Confession, the Pope said some decide to stay away from it, because it's challenging to share one's faults with others. To counteract this, the Pope said they must make an effort to embrace an attitude of mercy and forgiveness.

POPE FRANCIS
"The heart of a priest, is a heart that's open to being moved. It's not based just on feelings or even plain emotion, but rather by the very core of the Lord's mercy.”

He also talked about practical matters, like having parishes making their confession schedules clear, including the times when parishoners can find a priest in church.
