Argentine archdiocese places confession booths on the streets

The local church surprised many residents in the northern Argentine city of Tucuman, when priests from the three main churches, including the archbishop, took to the streets to confess people.

"Lent, as Pope Francis says, is a time of encounter with the Lord. It's a time of conversion and to seek out the mercy of the Lord.”

The idea came about after the success of the day of Penance the Vatican organized on March 28.

For 24 hours, hundreds of priests around the world kept their parish doors open to confess people, even Pope Francis himself took part.
