2014-04-17

(-VIDEO ONLY-) Holy Thursday kicked off at the Vatican with the celebration of the Chrism Mass at St. Peter's Basilica.

In his homily, Pope Francis talked about the joys of the priesthood, and how that joy helps them in their everyday lives as priests.

After his remarks, the Pope carried out the traditional blessing of the holy oils used throughout the year for the Sacraments.

These holy oils, brought in within large silver vessels, are used especially for Baptism, Confirmation, and the Anointing of the Sick, as well as for the ordination of priests.
