New Custodian of the Holy Land

May 20, 2016. Friar Francesco Patton is the new Custodian of the Holy Land. He succeeds Fr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who was in office for the last 12 years. Friar Francesco Patton is 52 years old from Vigo Meano (Italy). He graduated in Communication Sciences from the Pontifical Salesian University of Rome and until now was the provincial minister of the Order of Friars Minor in Saint Vigilius of Trent.

Pope Francis washes feet of 12 elderly and disabled people


(-ONLY VIDEO-) On Holy Thursday, Pope Francis washed the feet of 12 patients with special needs at the St. Mary of Providence Center, for the Don Gnocchi Foundation.

It's a center for the elderly and people with several disabilities located in the outskirts of Rome.

Their ages ranged from 16 to 86. Among them were four women and a Muslim.

During his homily, the Pope explained that with that gesture Christians are reminded to always be at the service of others.
