Pope: We need to stop these embarrassing massacres!

2014-05-14

(-ONLY VIDEO-) At the end of his general audience, Pope Francis prayed for the miners who died in Turkey and the immigrants who drowned in the Mediterranean.

In the Turkish city of Soma, a mine explosion killed more than 200 workers. Hundreds of others are still believed to be trapped.

The other incident, deals with a group of immigrants who drowned along the Mediterranean as they attempted to make their way to Europe.

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

"I ask you to pray for the miners who died yesterday in the city of Soma, Turkey. Also for those who are still trapped. May the Lord welcome them in His home and may He comfort their families.

Let us also pray for the those who recently lost their lives along the Mediterranean. Let's pray so that Human Rights are first in line, so that authorities can work together to stop these embarrassing massacres.”
