Pope Francis welcomed Horst Seehoger, the president of the Free State of Bavaria in Germany. It's the region where Pope emeritus Benedict XVI was born in 1927.

Pope Francis lived for some time in Germany, so, even though he had an interpreter, he was able to understand the political leader. One instance was when the executive told him one of assistants spoke Spanish.

"A little.”

The two leaders than exchanged gifts. The president brought the Pope a basket of traditional Bavarian products. Pope Francis was surprised at one particular item.
