But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Marie Miller: 23 years old, third of 10 children and a musical success

2014-08-08

In one week this song was viewed over 10,000 times on YouTube. It's a young woman's prayer to God to find the man of her dreams.

The voice behind the music is 23 year old American, Marie Miller.

She grew up in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, is the third of ten children. She began singing at the age of seven. At 12, she joined her family's band, who played in local festivals and churches.

Her music is inspired by personal life experiences. Her single, "You're Not Alone”, describes helping a friend through a difficult family issue.

Another key moment in her life was going to India to help the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Those moments, she says, were life-changing.

With an album mixed with pop and folk music already under her belt, Miller seems to have a promising future ahead of her.
