Bishop Álvaro del Portillo, the first successor of St. Josemaria Escrivá as the prelate of Opus Dei, will be beatified on September 27th in Madrid. As many await the beatification, a new app is available to prepare for the big day.

The app is called "Don Álvaro” and it provides an extensive biography of the future blessed. It recounts the most important moments of his life: from his birth and youth in Madrid to his vocation in Opus Dei and his priestly ordination.

It also includes personal testimonies from those who knew him, such as St. John Paul II, journalist Vittorio Messori and Cardinal Julián Herranz. Other personal experiences can be found in the video section of the app.

And for anyone who plans on attending the beatification, the app gives information on how to register. It even shows the texts and songs for the liturgical event.

The app is free and available in English and Spanish for iOS and Android smartphones.
