Pope Francis recalled the sufferings of Christians in the Middle East during his meeting with the Patriarch of the Assyrian Church, Mar Dinkha IV.
How are you?
Nice to meet you.
The Pope said that there are "no religious, political or economic reasons” that justifies the "daily persecution” suffered by "hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children.”
Mar Dinkha IV is the head of the one of the oldest Churches in the East.
Pope Francis told the patriarch that his visit is "a step forward on a path of growing closeness” and that unites them is "much more than what separates them.”
