February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope Francis: The priestly vocation is a treasure

2014-10-03

Pope Francis met with members of the Congregation of the Clergy.

Cardinal Beniamino Stella, prefect of the dicastery, explained to the Pope how the dicastery has functioned since assuming jurisdiction of the seminaries.

The Pope told them that the vocation to the priesthood is a treasure

POPE FRANCIS
"Taking the image from the Gospel of Matthew, I would like to compare the vocation of the ordainted ministry to the"treasure hidden in the field”. It is truly a treasure that God has always placed in the hearts of some men, chosen by Him in this special state in life.”

Pope Francis insisted that they must pay attention to vocations. He said that are a "diamond in the rough” that must be worked with care through formation.

After his address, he suggested to conclude the meeting with the Angelus prayer.

"It's 12:30pm. We can pray the Angelus.”

Since January 2013, the Congregation for the Clergy has handled the seminaries. Benedict XVI modified the Apostolic Constitution "Pastor Bonus” to transfer jurisdiction from the Congregation for Catholic Education.
