Pope Francis: Upcoming Jubilee an “intense and extended time” to embrace God's mercy


During the Regina Coeli prayer, Pope Francis discussed the upcoming Jubilee of Mercy, which begins in December. 

"The Year of Mercy is to be an intense and extended time in which to welcome and embrace the immense riches of God's merciful love.”

His remarks came the day after the Pope delivered the Bull of Indiction for the upcoming Jubilee Year.

Pope Francis also wished Christians who follow the Julian Calendar a happy Easter. Eastern Christians celebrate the Resurrection on April 12.

"We greet our brothers of the East on this day, their Easter, with applause, everyone!”

People from throughout the world had wished the Pope a happy Easter in recent weeks. He thanked them at the conclusion of his remarks.
