2015-06-01

Pope Francis met with the Association of Science and Life, which is a group of Italian scientists, professionals, and politicians that work to defend human life.

"The excessive power of science and technology seems to have suppressed the respect for life, from its beginning to its natural end.”

The group received high-praise from Pope Francis, who thanked them for the work they do to fight the throwaway society. He particularly praised their defense of the weakest.

POPE FRANCIS
"The love of Christ pushes us to work in service of the smallest and the oldest. For every man and woman, we recognize and protect their natural right to life.”

Furthermore, he explained that a just society must protect the right to life, from birth until natural death.

The Pope added that life is a gift and he asked that people defend all aspects of life. He mentioned abortion, euthanasia, war, and the abandonment of immigrants at sea as threats to life.
