Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Pope approves new decrees for the Causes of Saints

December 22, 2016. On Wednesday, December 21, Pope Francis authorized the following decrees for the Causes of Saints:

Pope meets with Airport Chaplains in the Vatican


They are priests who carry out their ministry in airports across the world, tending to people who come and go. Pope Francis welcomed participants of the International Seminar of Catholic Civil Aviation Chaplains, to the Vatican's Clementine Hall. 

"Airport ministries begin with offering a testimony to help people and to open their hearts and lives to Christ.” 

The Pope also highlighted that airports are often filled with refugees. He called on the chaplains to remember that these people are often detained for short or long periods of time, often times without assistance or spiritual direction.
