Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

When will the parents of St. Therese of Lisieux be canonized?

2015-06-27

There will soon be another two saints in the Catholic Church. On Saturday June 27th, Pope Francis is expected to announce the exact date when the parents of St.Therese of Lisieux will be canonized

Blessed Louis and Marie Guerin Martin were beatified back in 2008. Their canonization will take place during the Synod on the Family. The Pope's official calendar states that on October 18th, there will be a canonization. But he still needs to make it official with an announcement.

They are believed to be the first married couple to be raised to the altars, together, during the same ceremony.  The fact that they will be canonized during the Synod of the Family, is a way to highlight the key role parents play in transmitting the faith to their children.

The couple was married in France back in 1858. They had nine children, but four of them died. The other five entered religious life, including of course St. Therese of Lisieux, commonly referred to as the Little Flower.

Pope Francis has a special devotion towards St. Therese. So much so that he has publicly acknowledged that he often pray to Therese, asking for her to not necessarily solve his problems, but to help him accept them.
