The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

They're coming to see the Pope from 15 countries and once they arrive in the Vatican, they will draw eyes and ears with the rhythm of their drums and trumpets.

ALEJANDRO BIANCO
"This is a band with many years of experience.” "They showed great  initiative. Their presence and their musical accompaniment added a splash of color to St. Peter's Square.”

The group consists of 150 pilgrims from the Little Work of Divine Providence, a congregation made up of religious and laypeople founded by Saint Luis Orione. This Italian saint made the first "Cottolengo” in Italy, a place dedicated to the care of children and of the poor, as well as evangelization.

VIRGINIA ZALBA
"Our mission as laypeople is to spread our charism throughout the world through the formation, evangelization and encouragement of other laypeople.”

These pilgrims have traveled all the way to Italy to participate in the international prayer meeting organized by their congregation.

For many, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Pope. They praised the simplicity and the clarity of the Pope's remarks.

ALEJANDRO BIANCO
"He spoke of the mundane, of everyday life, of things that happen to everybody.” As always, he used simple words that speak to the heart.”

Saint Luis Orione was canonized by John Paul II in 2004. He joins the ranks of such great 19th and 20th century Italian saints as Saint John Bosco and Saint Gaetano Catanoso.
