Catholic You Tube Star, Fr. Robert Barron, appointed to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles

2015-07-21

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has a new team. On Tuesday, three new auxiliary bishops were  appointed by Pope Francis.

Two of them are already working in the archdiocese. They are Msgr. David O’Connell and Msgr. Joseph Brennan. The third is quite possibly the most recognizable, especially when it comes to social media.

He is Fr. Robert Barron from Chicago. He is mostly known for his website 'Word on Fire.' He uses social media to evangelize and explain the faith to millions of people.

In fact, his You Tube videos have been viewed over 13 million times, making him the most followed Catholic leader on social media, after Pope Francis.

With nearly 5 million parishioners, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is the largest in the U.S. It has been led by Archbishop José Gómez since March 2011.
