To be Catholic is to be joyful. That's the message this band from El Salvador wants to spread with its music.

The group is known as Equistheo. The name is a play on words in Spanish, and it references the code name early Christians used to secretly refer to Christ.

Formed in 2004, the band has won several awards. Recently, it took home first place at Ekklesiafest, a festival meant to showcase new talent in Catholic music.

They try to bring people closer to God with their music. They say in their songs that only Jesus can make life truly fulfilling.

The band is made up of young people from different parishes in El Salvador. They said that meeting people from other areas has helped them understand other people's concerns. They believe it makes their music better too.

More than anything, the band wants their music to become better known throughout the world. With that goal in mind, they're currently finishing up their first album.
