Pope Francis will focus his prayers during October on two causes that are dear to his heart: ending human trafficking and spreading Christianity in Asia.
His universal prayer intention is "that human trafficking, the modern form of slavery, may be eradicated.”
Earlier this year, the Vatican held an international conference to share and develop ways to combat the problem. The Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences has made the issue a centerpiece of its work.
Just a few days after announcing he would like to travel to China, the Pope's intention for evangelization will be "that with a missionary spirit the Christian communities of Asia may announce the Gospel to those who are still awaiting it.”
