Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope: Providence is more than just a nice word. It's more than poetry

2015-11-12

Moving is just one of the words to describe the Pope's meeting with the ill. This was no exception. Pope Francis met with members of the so called Don Guanella family. The Congregation was founded by Italian St. Luigi Guanella, starting one of the most charitable groups of the 19th and 20th century.

"Dear Pope Francis, I have the honor of being the first one to speak to you. I'm very happy. Look, here is my family. This is the family, St. Luigi gave me! Right here!

The Pope said it's sad when even though people believe in God the Father, they distance themselves, fearing Him as a master.

POPE FRANCIS
"When we distance ourselves from Him, he waits for us. When we're near, He embraces us. When we fall, He lifts us. If we're sorry, He forgives.”

Providence played a special role in the life of St. Luigi, said the Pope. It wasn't just a beautiful word, but one that was applied in his life.

POPE FRANCIS
"This saint didn't see providence as poetry, but as reality. God worries about us and wants us to trust Him.”

Since St. Luigi started many charitable works, the Pope also highlighted that while it's key to help those in need, one shouldn't forget those who are near and also need support.

St. Luigi Guanella was a close friend of Pope Pius X and he was canonized by Benedict XVI back in 2011.
