Pope Francis receives the first copy of his new book

2016-01-12

"I give you the first copy of the Italian edition. There are also other foreign editions. Therefore, really...Holiness, a heartfelt thank you from the entire house.”

"Thanks to you.”

"The Name of God is Mercy” is a book-length interview between Pope Francis and the Italian journalist Andrea Tornielli. He was there for the presentation, along with other notable guests like the acclaimed Italian actor Roberto Benigni.

"Holiness, you have given us a great gift. Thank you, thank you very much.”

The central theme of the book is mercy. It comes in the same format that Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI used: lengthy conversations with journalists in which they went in depth to answer questions about modern life.
