Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

"The population of these two tortured town asks others worldwide not to forget. It is through prayer that they feel our closeness.”

The patriarchs of the Middle East do not cease to repeat the same idea. While in Rome, last month, the Syrian Catholic Patriarch of Antioch sent a desperate message.

"The Christian community in Iraq and Syria is increasingly discouraged because they see that the family's of these powerful nations are not interested in the fate of vulnerable communities.”

The day of fasting and prayer, in fact, has been proposed by several patriarchs of the Middle East. It is remembered as the day the Pope asked for fasting and prayer to avoid the possible attack on Syria.

Since the crisis broke out in Syria in 2011, Aid to the Church in Need has pledged over 27 million Euros.
