The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

The government of the Order of Malta will elect the successor of the Grand Master in April

February 15, 2017. On April 29, the Council Complete of State, the Order’s constitutional body, will elect the next Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta (or, as provided for in the Constitution, a Lieutenant of the Grand Master, to hold office for a year).

Pope names a Special Envoy for Medjugorje

< style> February 11, 2017. Pope Francis has asked Henryk Hoser, S.A.C., bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland), to go to Medjugorje as Special Envoy of the Holy See. According< g> the Vatican, "the mission has the aim of acquiring a deeper knowledge of the pastoral situation there and above all, of the needs of the faithful who go there in pilgrimage, and on the basis of this, to suggest possible pastoral initiatives for the future”.

After Holy week, Pope Francis has a less hectic schedule as this week starts to whined down.

On Easter Monday, as is tradition, the Pope will pray to the Regina Coeli instead of his usual Angelus. 

On Wednesday, March 30th, the Pope will have his weekly general audience in St. Peter's Square. Thousands of pilgrims from throughout the world are expected to attend. The event will take place at 10 am, local Rome time. 

Over the weekend, a special Jubilee for those devoted to the Spirituality of Divine Mercy will be celebrated.

On Friday, April 1st, The Night of Reconciliation will commence with the Jubilee Churches opening up for penance services and confessions. This will take place from 8pm to midnight.

On Saturday, April 2nd, a catechesis on mercy and the Eucharistic Adoration will commence as the Jubilee churches open their doors to welcome the pilgrims. This will take place from 9am to 2pm. 

Later that evening, the pilgrimages to the Holy Doors of the Four Major Basilicas will open; beginning with the entrance into Saint Peter's Square at 4pm, followed by the testimonies and music at 4:30pm and a prayer vigil that Pope Francis will preside over at 6pm. 

On Sunday, April 3rd, Pope Francis will preside over Divine Mercy Sunday Mass in Saint Peter's Square. This will take place at 10am, local Rome time.
