Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

The Pope called for the release of hostages in war zones

2016-04-11

During the recitation of the Regina Coeli prayer which replaces the Angelus during the Easter season, Pope Francis called for the release of those kidnapped in war zones and one person in particular.

POPE FRANCIS
"I renew my call for the release of all persons abducted in armed conflict zones; in particular, I I wish to mention Tom Uzhunnalil, the Salesian priest kidnapped in Aden, Yemen, on March 4.”

The Salesian priest was kidnapped by the terrorists who attacked a retirement home in the Mother Teresa community. They killed 16 people including the religious and the employees of the home.

Recalling the Sunday Gospel, the Pope delivered a message of optimism and hope.

POPE FRANCIS
"The presence of the risen Jesus changes everything. The darkness is overcome by light,  useless work becomes fruitful and promising again, feelings of tiredness and neglect are left in place for a new impetus and certainty that He is with us.”

He recalled that the Easter season for Christians is an especially important time to resume missionary zeal, a task for which much energy is needed. And so, like every Sunday, the Pope said goodbye wishing everyone a good lunch.

Bon appetit and farewell.
