Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. Pope appoints new bishops in Korea, the Philippines, the U.S. and Ukraine

The Pope has appointed John Bosco Chang-Ho Shin Auxiliary Bishop of Daegu, Korea. Between 1993 and 1998 he studied theology at Rome's Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum and Liturgy at the Pontifical Institute of St. Anselm.

Jose Elmer Imas Mangalinao has been named auxiliary bishop of Lingayen-Dagupan in the Philippines. He was director of the College of the Immaculate Conception in Cabanatuan City.

Pope Francis has also appointed Auxiliary Bishop Edward M. Deliman from Philadelphia, USA. He was pastor of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Vitaliy Skomarovskyi has been named Apostolic Administrator of Kyiv-Zhytomyr in the Ukraine, until he is assigned as bishop in that diocese.
