After the recitation of the Sunday Angelus, The Pope greeted the audience that participated in the Jubilee of the Sick and Disabled, especially those suffering from leprosy. He also took the time to thank the medical staff who provided their services at the "Health Points” that were set-up around the four Papal Basilicas in Rome.
The Pope also called for solidarity and mutual acceptance of persons with disabilities.
"In the context of the Jubilee of the sick that took place in recent days in Rome, an International conference dedicated to the care of people suffering from Hansen's disease. I greet you all the organizers and participants with gratitude and hope for a fruitful commitment to the fight against this disease.”
He concluded by reminding the pilgrims in the audience that the body of mankind is made in the image of Jesus. Wounds are capable of transfiguring into love by overturning weakness into a strength.
