Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

-Miracle attributed to Fr. Louis Antoine Ormières (France July 4th, 1809 – January 16th, 1890), founder of the Congregation of Sisters of the Guardian Angel.

-Recognition of the martyrdom of the Martyrs of Canet de Mar (Antonio Arribas Hortigüela and six Companions, missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus), murdered in Spain on September 29, 1936.

-Martyrdom of Josef Mayr-Nusser, who refused to enroll in the Nazi SS and was executed on February 24, 1945.

-The heroic virtues of Alfonso Gallegos (February 20, 1931 – October 6, 1991), agustinian recollects, auxiliary bishop of Sacramento (USA).

-Heroic virtues of Rafael Sánchez García, diocesan priest of Badajoz, Spain (June 14, 1911 – August 8, 1973)
