Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

A new General Chapter of Dominicans begins, in search of new "preaching strategies"

2016-07-22

The Dominicans opened their new General Chapter this evening with a procession in Bologna, Italy. It was the end of a large pilgrimage to cross the places where their founder, Saint Dominic, spent his life.

BR. BRUNO CADORÉ
Master of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans)
"Here my brothers and sisters ended their pilgrimage in the footsteps of Saint Dominic. Here our general chapter begins in this Jubilee Year. Here the Dominicans were formed in Christ, who asks us: 'Go and announce.'

A hundred members of the Order, from fifty countries, made this pilgrimage. They traveled through Spain and France and finished in Bologna, the city where Saint Dominic died.

SISTER AMPARO

"The experience in Bologna is unique. My vocation is revived, strengthened, I am more committed."

BR. TOBY
England Province
"Here you find everyone coming together with the habit. Brothers and sisters of all races, colors and languages."

Saint Dominic of Guzman founded the Order of Preachers 800 years ago, aiming to fight religious ignorance. Today, the order's spirit is the same, but the context is different. That is why in this General Chapter they are deciding what messages the Preachers of the 21st century should pass on, without losing sight of their charism and identity. There is a lot of work to be done at the General Chapter in the following weeks, before it ends on August 4.
