On his way to the inter-religious meeting for peace in Assisi, he stopped by Rome to visit Pope Francis.
Morikawa was accompanied by a large delegation. He gave Pope Francis several gifts, including this cane.
In return, Pope Francis gave him a copy of his encyclical Laudato si'. Then, they said farewell in the same way they met, with a bow and a handshake.
