Pope to Nuncios: Go out as Peter's envoys with his message of closeness and testimony

2016-09-19

On Saturday morning, Pope Francis was joined by a group of Apostolic Nuncios in the Apostolic Palace. The ambassadors of the pope are in Rome for a Jubilee Year of Mercy gathering.

POPE FRANCIS
"I am happy for this moment of Jubilee prayer which, in addition to calling us as pastors to rediscover the roots of mercy, is the occasion to renew, through you, the bond between the Successor of Peter and the various local Churches of which you are the bearers and craftsmen of that communion, which is the lymph for the life of the Church and for the proclamation of her message.”

The pope expressed gratitude for the Papal diplomats and their willingness to renew their commitment to service in new and different countries with joy and enthusiasm.

POPE FRANCIS
"You arrived here when you were still young for the purpose of serving Peter; you have returned here often to meet him; and from here you continue to go out again as his envoys taking his message, his closeness and his testimony.”

Pope Francis took to the Gospel parable of the sower and reflected on how the Nuncios should step out of their comfort zones and go beyond the limits of their own strengths and abilities in order to carry the Gospel of Christ to every corner of the globe.
