Pope Francis has held an audience this morning in the Vatican with the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.

They spoke in Italian, and during their meeting they underlined the good relationship between the Church and the state in Slovenia. On February 8, the Holy See and Slovenia celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of their diplomatic relations

When he presented him with a souvenir, the president slyly invited Pope Francis to his country.

'When you come to Slovenia next year you will see many of these.

He also gave him a copy of a manuscript from the  Cistercian monastery of Sticna, close to Ljubljana, that dates back to the fifteenth century and is written in Slovenian and Latin

Pope Francis reciprocated by giving him a copy of his three most important documents of his pontificate and an engraved medallion.

Later, Pope Francis said farewell to the president. Who knows if they might see each other again next year.
