To start the week, the pope will release an Apostolic Letter on the occasion of the end of the Jubilee of Mercy, which concluded yesterday. It will be titled 'Misericordia et Misera.

On Wednesday, the pope will celebrate a General Audience in St. Peter's Square, where he will be likely to continue his series of catecheses on the Works of Mercy.

That afternoon, the pope will meet with Vietnamese president, Tran Dai Quang, who is visiting the Vatican for the first time.

On Saturday, the pope will attend the awards ceremony for the Ratzinger Prize, the so-called Nobel Prize of Theology. It is always awarded to a Catholic and a non-Catholic. On this occasion, the award is going to Italian Inos Biffi and the Orthodox Ioannis Kourempeles.

The pope will top off this week with the Angelus prayer on Sunday, from his office overlooking St. Peter's Square.
