The pope meets with youth and the sick during his trip to Turin

Benedict XVI“I encourage families to experience the Christian dimension of love in simple everyday activities, in family relationships, overcoming division and misunderstandings.”

The pope later met with a large group of youths from the region. In the meeting he prayed for youth from all over the world.

Benedicto XVI“I ask especially for the youth who are living situations of suffering, difficulty and of disorientation.”

In a gathering marked by rain, the bad weather did not stop the youth from filling up the square to see the pope.

Benedict XVI reminded them that Jesus Christ has a special love for each one of them.

Benedict XVI“Christ?s love for the rich young man of the Gospel is the same as that He has for each of you. It is not a love confined to the past, it is not an illusion, it is not reserved for the few.”

The pope also reminded them that in August of 2011 they will celebrate World Youth Day in Madrid, and he encouraged all of the youth to participate and prepare themselves for the gathering.

Benedict XVI also visited a care center for the sick. He reminded them that pain and suffering don’t have the last word. A message that is also reflected by the Holy Shroud.

Benedict XVI"This meeting of ours tones in well with my pilgrimage to the Holy Shroud, in which we can read all the drama of suffering but also, in the light of Christ?s Resurrection.”

His greeting to the sick was the last meeting of this short but intense visit of 11 hours in Turin.
