Pope: Virgin Mary is the mother of the Church

Benedict XVI“She, in fact, is the most beautiful flower to bloom in creation, the ?rose? which appeared in the fullness of time, when God sent his Son, and gifted the world a new spring.”

The pope called the Virgin, the mother of the Church and the servant of Jesus in the first steps of the Christian community.

Before 20 thousand pilgrims who gathered at St. Peter’s Square, the pope also highlighted his trip to the shrine in Fatima and called on all to pray for the intercession of the Virgin Mary, for the Church, especially priests and world peace.
