Saint Augustine of Hippo writings on display in Rome

Alessandro Cattaneo

Mayor of Pavia, Italy

Pavia is next to Milan and St. Augustine had a strong connection with Milan. And for me, as mayor of Pavia, it’s very important for me to promote events like this in Rome because for us St. Augustine is really the identity of our city.” ;

Mayor Catteneo says bringing the figure of St. Augustine to Rome is a great pride and joy. St. Augustine, a doctor of the Church and philosopher, is best known for Confessions of St. Augustine, an autobiography made up of 13 volumes that documents everything from his sinful youth to his conversion to Christianity in his early thirties. ;

His work is popular among believers and non-believers, and throughout this exhibit visitors can find his work on display and his quotes etched on panels. ;
