Benedict XVI visits a convent of cloistered nuns

Benedict XVI“By this collective prayer that finds its culmination in the daily participation in the Mass, your dedication to the Lord in silence and obscurity is fertile and rich in fruits.”

The community is composed of 13 nuns: 11 Italians, one Colombian, and one Slovakian.

Afterward the pope told them that their life of prayer and work is very important for the Church.

Benedict XVI“How can we not be moved by compassion for those who seem to drift without a goal? How can we not desire that their lives may encounter Jesus, Who alone gives meaning to existence?" In the convent they keep a well-known image of the Virgin of Saint Luke, from the seventh century and relics of different Dominican saints.
