Nuncio to Iraq named UN permanent observer

Archbishop Chullikatt fills the office formerly held by Archbishop Celestino Migliore, who is now Apostolic Nuncio to Poland. ; Chullikatt most recently worked as Apostolic Nuncio to Iraq and Jordan. ; He has served as a diplomat for the Vatican since 1988, working in Honduras, Southern Africa and the Philippines before his post in Iraq and Jordan. ;

Chullikatt is the first non-Italian to be permanent observer, and he previously worked at the UN from 2000 to 2004 as a Counsellor at the Holy See?s Mission to the UN.
