Benedict XVI baptizes 21 babies in Sistine Chapel

Benedict XVI “When John the Baptist saw Jesus, in line with sinners to be baptized, he was stunned; recognizing him as the Messiah, the Holy One of God, He who is without sin, John expresses his confusion because he himself wanted to be baptized by Jesus. ; However Jesus tells him not to resist, to agree to carry out this act, to operate what is convenient to ?fulfill all righteousness.?” In the Sistine Chapel, underneath the work of Michelangelo, parents brought forth their children to be cleansed of original sin. ;Benedict XVI explained the ritual of baptism and the importance it will play in the lives of their children. ;Benedict XVI “Through the washing of water, your children are part of the life of Jesus, who died on the cross to free us from sin and rising, he conquered death. Therefore, spiritually immersed into his death and resurrection, they are freed from original sin and begin their life of grace, which is the very life of the Risen Jesus.”In this special ceremony, the Pope reminded the families that the Church was there to help raise these children in the Christian community. He then prayed that they would all lead full and healthy lives and grow in the love of their families. ;AECTVJM-BN
