Vatican discusses current challenges facing Church in China

Tensions between Rome and China escalated last November over the illicit ordination of a Chinese bishop. However, more recently the two parties gave joint approval for the ordination of a new bishop in the Chinese diocese of Jiangmen. The Vatican said they plan to discuss the “challenges in incarnating the Gospel in the present social and cultural conditions.”This is the fourth meeting of its kind after Benedict XVI established the commission in 2007.
