FAO makes urgent call to end food crisis in Sudan regions

At least 235,000 people are at risk of starvation. The food shortage has been due to an increase of fighting between government forces and a rebel group known as the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement. FAO is now seeking an additional 3.5 million dollars in order to continue their aid programs in the region. They currently have a small team on the ground that has distributed supplies to some 20,000 people. They are still trying to reach thousands more who have been cut off because of the violence.
