Pope attends concert by Spanish Symphony Orchestra

The group was directed by the Chilean conductor Maximiano Valdes and was organized by the Spanish foundation Maria Cristina Masaveu Peterson. The concert included an international collection with pieces by the Spaniard Manuel de Falla, German Richard Strauss, and the Russian Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Benedict XVI noted that music was a great form of communication, calling it the universal language that could cross barriers into different nations and cultures. AECTV--BN
