Pope expresses closeness to Mexican children in face of violence

Benedict XVI “You have a very special place in the Pope?s heart. I would like all the children of Mexico to know this, especially those who have to bear the burden of suffering, abandonment, violence or hunger, which in recent months, because of drought, has made itself strongly felt in some regions. I am grateful for this encounter of faith.” Children have been especially affected by the violence in Mexico that has left over 50,000 people dead since 2006. Benedict XVI promised the children that the Church would not leave them in their time of need. Benedict XVI “You, my dear young friends, are not alone. You can count on the help of Christ and his Church in order to live a Christian lifestyle.” The meeting took place in the local town square known as the Plaza of Peace. Before leaving the pope greeted several of the children and said he would be praying for all of them as well as their families. AE CTV GdP -BN
