Religion Today: Film Festival dedicated to promoting peace between religions

Katia Malatesta

Director, Religion Today Film Festival

"We have many interesting films including short films, documentaries, and feature films. For example, we have a documentary called 'Little Town of Bethlehem' ,that speaks about religion and non-violence and takes place in a difficult context in the Holy Land.

Pierfrancesco Sacco

Head Policy Planning Unit, Foreign Affairs Ministry (Italy)

"The combination of movies on this very sensible, very delicate issue of religion and tolerance, and mutual dialogue and understanding with academic debate on the issue of religions and international relations.

Some of the favorites for this year's festival include 'The Last Christeros,' based on a group of Mexicans in 1925 struggling against the governmentâ??s decision to restrict religious freedoms. It's based on the true story of the Christeros that fight to practice their Catholic faith.

From Thailand comes "Mindfulness and Murder, the story of an ex-police officer that becomes a Buddhist monk and investigates a murder in his monastery.

And from the United States is "Riding for Jesus, a story of a group of bikers that evangelize on the open road. Many of them come from difficult backgrounds but find comfort in their new faith.
