King of Spain will give an award to Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone

Organizers say, the award is a way to recognize all the social work and support the Church is giving to Spain during the economic crisis.

ENRIC JULIANA

Deputy Director 'La Vanguardia', Barcelona

"It recognizes three things. First, his work in the foreign policy of the Catholic Church.  Second, the Pope's trip to Barcelona two years ago. Third, the very important work being done by the Church in these times of economic crisis in Spain.â?

The 'Count of Baracelona Foundation' is giving the award. The foundation is linked to Spanish newspaper 'La Vanguardia',which is one of the oldest and the third most read in Spain. The award is also a way to thank the Pope, the Vatican and Bertone for the positive impact the Pope's trip had back in November 2010.

"It sparked a revival of Barcelona's Sacred Family, as a symbol of Christian roots and the religious background of the city. It also marked the Sacred Family as an international artistic symbol that's inseparable to Christian religion.

This award ceremony takes place every three years. Tuesday will mark the fourth ceremony of its kind. Past recipients include the President of the European Commission, the International Red Cross and the editor of the New York Times.
