Pope Christmas greeting card unveiled

The artwork was created by Leandro Bassano and shows the adoration of Baby Jesus by the shepherds. The Italian artist from the 16th Century (1557-1622) used a Venetian style for his depiction, showing clear influences from another Italian artist, Tintoretto.

The Pope's greeting card includes a Latin verse from Psalm 85: Veritas de terra orta est!, "Truth shall spring out of Earth!
