Cardinal Jozef Glemp dies, number of cardinals drops to 210

John Paul II, the first Polish Pope, made Glemp a cardinal back in 1981. Over the years, he was known for leading the fight against the country's communist government. He played a critical role in this fight, until he became ill in 2004.

With Glemp's death, the number of cardinals drops to 210. The number of cardinal electors, meaning those who are younger than 80 and can vote during a conclave is 119. The number of non cardinal electors is 91.
