WYD: Vatican and Italy lend da Vinci, Caravaggio pieces for Brazil exhibit

PROF. GIOVANNI MORELLO 'In the footsteps of the Lord' (Brazil) "That image of the Saviour, the Mandylion, the image of Christ, we will pair it up with the famous photo from Secondo Pia, who for the first time photographed the Shroud of Turin, and is conserved at the Vatican Library. It's an authentic photograph requested by the Pope at the time, Pius IX. The exhibit is divided into four themes: the face of Jesus, the Apostles, the Virgin Mary, and the saints. Some of them are very symbolic to Rio de Janeiro. PROF. GIOVANNI MORELLO 'In the footsteps of the Lord' (Brazil) "There will also be the relics of the head of St. Sebastian, which was made in the 6th or 7th Century and are housed at the Vatican museums, because the diocese of Rio de Janeiro is dedicated to St. Sebastian. During World Youth Day, the Pope will deliver three catecheses. The exhibit's organizers say the works of art are like a fourth catechesis, which shows Christian traditions in the first few centuries through the beautiful works by the artists.
